Lycaena cupreus, commonly known as the lustrous copper, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Lycaenidae. This species is found in the western mountain regions of North America. The wingspan of adult Lycaena cupreus ranges from 23 to 30 mm. Adult butterflies are active in flight from mid-June through July to August. Adult individuals feed on nectar from species in the Cirsium genus, Medicago sativa, and species in the Melilotus genus. The larvae of this species feed on Oxyria digyna and species in the Rumex genus.
