About Luzula rufa Edgar
Luzula rufa Edgar is a perennial plant with a scattered, grass-like growth habit and long, thin stems. It produces an inflorescence structured as a single head, containing between one and three clusters. Both the tepals and capsules of this species are reddish-brown, and their color darkens as the plant ages. This species is distributed across New Zealand, growing on all three of its main islands as well as the Chatham Islands. It occurs in alpine communities, where it grows alongside species of Dracophyllum and Celmisia.
