About Luffa aegyptiaca Mill.

Luffa aegyptiaca Mill. has three-lobed leaves that are 7.5 to 20 centimetres (3 to 8 inches) wide. Its fruit is approximately 30 centimetres (12 inches) long, ripens to a brown color, and resembles a cucumber in both shape and size.

Luffa aegyptiaca has been cultivated across Asia for centuries as a household cleaning agent. Today, its natural fibers have a gently abrasive quality that makes the plant a popular exfoliating agent in the eco-friendly cosmetics industry. Because of its striking yellow flowers, it is also sometimes grown as an ornamental plant.
