Ludwigia repens J.R.Forst. is a flowering plant species in the evening primrose family, commonly known as creeping primrose-willow. It is native to parts of the Americas, and has the ability to spread easily and become naturalized across many areas. In some regions, it is classified as an aquatic weed, and it is also cultivated for use as an aquarium plant. This is a mat-forming perennial herb, with a creeping stem that can reach up to 30 centimeters in length. The plant roots at nodes that come into contact with wet substrate. Its leaves are arranged oppositely and grow up to 4 or 5 centimeters long. Its flowers have four yellow petals that are no longer than 3 millimeters, positioned above a base of four pointed sepals that may be slightly longer than the petals. A recent study found that phytochemicals from L. repens act as a potent central nervous system depressant and painkiller in vivo.
