About Lozotaenia forsterana (Fabricius, 1781)

Lozotaenia forsterana is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. It is distributed across Europe and the Palearctic realm. The wingspan of this moth ranges from 20 to 29 millimeters. Its forewings narrow towards the anterior end, are a pale brownish shade, and marked with darker longitudinal streaks. A dark fuscous costal spot represents the central fascia, and there is an indistinct praetornal suffusion on the forewings. The costal patch is also dark fuscous. The hindwings are grey in color. Fully grown larvae are pale grey-green or grey, sometimes with whitish sides. Their head is black, and the second thoracic segment plate is yellow-brown with two black spots. Adult moths are active from June to August. Larvae feed on a wide variety of plants, and show a preference for Hedera helix, common ivy.
