Loxostege cereralis, commonly known as the alfalfa webworm, is a moth species belonging to the family Crambidae. This species has a scientific name Loxostege cereralis Zeller, 1872. Its range extends across North America from Quebec to British Columbia in Canada, and southward into Mexico in the western part of the continent. The wingspan of adult alfalfa webworms measures between 13 and 25 mm. Adult moths are active and in flight from May through early September each year. The larval stage of Loxostege cereralis feeds on alfalfa, as well as many other types of crops and weed species.
