About Lophyra catena (Fabricius, 1775)

Lophyra catena (Fabricius, 1775) is a species of tiger beetle that occurs in Asia. It can easily be confused with the similar-looking species Lophyra cancellata and Lophyra histrio, but it can be distinguished from these two by the dense patch of hair that grows on its cheek, which is the area located below the eye. This species has a wide distribution, ranging from western Pakistan east to Myanmar, and also occurs in Sri Lanka. It can be found in fields, sandy river banks, lagoons, and open forest clearings.
