About Lonicera interrupta Benth.

Lonicera interrupta Benth. is a honeysuckle shrub with a woody trunk. Its leaves grow up to 3.5 centimetres (1+1⁄2 inches) long. The plant produces spiked inflorescences of yellow honeysuckle flowers. Each flower is roughly 1 centimetre (1⁄2 inch) long, with prominent stamens extending outward from its rolled-back lips. The fruits it produces are red, spherical, and shiny. This species is native to chaparral and mixed forest habitats in the foothills and mountain ranges of California, and also grows in some mountain areas of Arizona. It is hardy and quite drought-tolerant. Its flowers are attractive to hummingbirds. Unlike many other members of the Lonicera genus, its fruits are bitter but edible.
