About Lomatium foeniculaceum (Nutt.) J.M.Coult. & Rose
Lomatium foeniculaceum (Nutt.) J.M.Coult. & Rose is a hairy perennial herb that grows from a taproot, reaching up to 30 centimeters in length. This species has no true stem, so its upright inflorescences and leaves emerge directly from ground level. Its leaves grow up to roughly 30 centimeters long, and are intricately divided into many small, narrow segments. The inflorescence is an umbel made up of many spreading clusters of small yellow or purplish flowers. The plant has a strong scent; its edible leaves taste similar to parsley, which is a close relative of the species.
