About Lomatium austiniae (J.M.Coult. & Rose) J.M.Coult. & Rose
Lomatium austiniae, commonly known as Austin's desertparsley or Sonne's desert parsley, is a perennial herb belonging to the carrot family, Apiaceae. It is only found growing in a restricted region of Nevada. This species is named for Rebecca Merritt Smith Leonard Austin, who collected the type specimen. It was previously classified as the variety Lomatium plummerae var. sonnei. The epithet "austinae" is an orthographic variant of the name, which is automatically corrected to austiniae under ICBN Article 60.11 without the need for formal publication.
