About Lobelia rhombifolia de Vriese
Lobelia rhombifolia, commonly known as tufted lobelia, is an annual plant native to southern Australia. Individuals of this species grow between 5 and 30 centimeters tall, and produce purple flowers with a white throat and two recurved upper lobes. The timing of flowering varies across the species' native range: it flowers from September to December in Western Australia, October and November in South Australia, November in Victoria, and October to February in Tasmania. This species was first formally described in 1845 by German botanist Johann Lehmann, in the publication Plantae Preissianae. In Tasmania, Lobelia rhombifolia is classified as "rare" under the state's Threatened Species Protection Act.
