About Livistona decora (W.Bull) Dowe

Livistona decora (W.Bull) Dowe is a species of palm that is endemic to Queensland, Australia. Its natural distribution is limited to Magnetic Island near the city of Townsville, and extends south along the Queensland coast to Rainbow Beach. It naturally occurs in sclerophyll woodlands, rainforests, and coastal strands. This species is now widely cultivated as a decorative plant in arid regions across the world. The palm grows in a range of habitats including sclerophyll forests, rainforests, and coastal beach dunes. In rainforest habitats, it grows alongside Breynia oblongifolia, Malaisia scandens, Melaleuca quinquernervia, and various eucalypt species. In dune environments, it occurs alongside Ipomoea pes-caprae and Spinifex sericeus. Opuntia stricta is found throughout the entire natural range of Livistona decora.
