About Lithostege griseata (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775
Lithostege griseata, commonly known as the grey carpet, is a moth species that belongs to the family Geometridae. This species was first formally described by Michael Denis and Ignaz Schiffermüller in 1775. It can be found across most of Europe, ranging from Great Britain and the Iberian Peninsula to the Ural Mountains. Its distribution extends further east to cover central Asia, Transcaucasia, Asia Minor, and the Near East. The wingspan of this moth measures between 28 and 31 millimeters, which equals 1.1 to 1.2 inches. Adult moths are active and in flight from May through July. The larvae of Lithostege griseata feed on the developing seeds of Descurainia sophia and Erysimum cheiranthoides.
