About Linospadix minor (W.Hill) Burret

Linospadix minor (W.Hill) Burret, also known by the synonym Bacularia intermedia, is most commonly called the minor walking stick palm. It gets this common name because it is smaller in stature than the related walking stick palm Linospadix monostachyos. This is a small palm species that grows in tropical forests of North-East Queensland, Australia. Its stems measure between 7mm and 20mm in diameter, and the plant grows to a height of 1 m to 5 m. It produces semi-glossy dark green leaves, with a total crown of 7 to 12 leaves. The minor walking stick palm has a limited distribution. It occurs in the rainforests of the southern Mcllwraith Range on Cape York Peninsula. It is most abundant in Queensland's wet tropical forests ranging from south of Cooktown (the Mount Amos area) to Mission Beach (Licuala State Forest), and extends inland as far as Windsor Tableland. It grows at elevations from 0 to 1200 m above sea level.
