About Linaria algarviana Chav.

Linaria algarviana Chav. is an annual herb that produces 1 to 15 stems between 14 and 25 centimeters long, and bears oblongo-lanceolate leaves. Its flower corolla is violet, with a yellow or beige lower lip marked by violet veins and violet spots. This species is native to the western portion of the Algarve, where it is locally called "Pombinhas do Algarve". It grows in clearings of xerophilic scrub, as well as pastures and meadows close to the coast. It occurs very rarely in vineyards and pine forests, and typically grows in dry places with a sandy substrate.
