Libythea labdaca, commonly known as the African snout butterfly, is a butterfly species that belongs to the subfamily Libytheinae. It is native to western and central Africa. This species forms very large migratory swarms; an estimated over 1 billion individual butterflies were recorded in Ghana. Their annual migration pattern involves moving south in the spring and north in the autumn. The caterpillar larvae of Libythea labdaca feed on plants from the Celtis genus, specifically including the species Celtis kraussiana and Celtis sayauxii.
