About Libythea celtis (Füssly, 1782)
This species, Libythea celtis (Füssly, 1782), has the following description and range. The upperside has a rich silky brown ground color. On the forewing, the cell is filled with a broad orange-yellow streak that is deeply indented above near the subapex. A small discal orange-yellow spot is present in interspace 1, and a much larger similarly colored discal spot sits between veins 2 and 4, touching the cell between veins 3 and 4 on its inner side. There is also a subcostal white preapical spot, and a quadrate double spot in interspaces 4 and 5 placed obliquely forward toward the subcostal spot; this double spot is whitish on the upper portion and orange on the lower portion. The hindwing is mostly uniform, with an irregular curved transverse upper postdiscal orange patch extending from just below vein 3 to interspace 6, where the portion in interspace 6 is often detached. On the underside, the forewing has a brown ground color, with a pale purplish apex sprinkled with tiny dark transverse striae and dots; its orange markings match those on the upperside, but are paler. The hindwing underside is uniform pale purplish, sprinkled with tiny dark dots and transverse striae. Antennae, head, thorax, and abdomen are dark brown; on the underside, the palpi, thorax, and abdomen match the color tone of the hindwing underside. This species ranges across southern Europe, Asia Minor, Central Asia, and the Chitral ranges of Pakistan.
