About Libidibia paraguariensis (D.Parodi) G.P.Lewis
Libidibia paraguariensis, commonly known as guayacaú negro or ibirá-berá, is a legume species belonging to the family Fabaceae. Its natural range spans Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay, and it is currently threatened by habitat loss. Guayacaú negro is harvested for timber in multiple Latin American countries, most notably Argentina and Paraguay. Commercially, this timber is marketed under several names: Argentinian brown ebony, the mistakenly labeled Brazilian ebony, and it is also grouped and sold as partridgewood. This timber is typically used to make high-end exotic hardwood flooring, cabinetry, and turnings. Its flowers are highly attractive to bees.
