About Leucauge celebesiana (Walckenaer, 1841)

Leucauge celebesiana, commonly known as the black-striped orchard spider, is a species of spider in the family Tetragnathidae. Its natural range extends from India through China and Japan to Sulawesi and New Guinea. Like many other species in the same genus, this spider is colourful and distinct in appearance. Excluding legs, its body reaches a length of 13 mm (0.51 in). The spider's abdomen is white, with yellow-green sides; black stripes separate the central white area from the coloured side regions, and an additional black stripe runs directly down the middle of the abdomen. This species builds webs that are angled at 45 degrees, and multiple individuals often construct their webs near one another. A similar species, Leucauge subblanda, occurs in Japan.
