About Leucania yu Guenée, 1852

This species is Leucania yu Guenée, 1852. The adult has a wingspan of 3 cm. Its forewings are pale brown, while its hindwings are buff coloured. On each forewing, over the cell, there is a characteristic narrow, triangular, pale wedge that is dark brown towards the distal end. The antemedial and postmedial fasciae are entire and crenulate, with a strong brown spot associated with the antemedial fascia. Late instar caterpillars are olive brown, with a strong white subspiracular stripe, faint longitudinal bands, and small white spots. Dorsal and subdorsal stripes are visible in early instars, and become faint in the final instar. Known larval food plants are several grasses, including species from the genera Paspalum and Saccharum.
