Lestes rectangularis (Say, 1840) is a species of damselfly belonging to Lestidae, the spreadwing damselfly family. It is commonly known as the slender spreadwing. This species is native to eastern North America, where it occurs across eastern Canada and the eastern United States. This damselfly has a long, thin body shape. Its body is primarily black, and it has a pale blue face; the edges of its wings are yellow. Females of the species are larger than males, and have paler yellow wing markings. Slender spreadwings live in habitats along springs and drying ponds.
