About Lestes inaequalis Walsh, 1862

Lestes inaequalis Walsh, 1862 ranges from 45 to 60 millimeters in total length. Males of this species have a metallic green and yellow thorax, and a green abdomen tipped with blue. Their bodies are pruinose, and this appearance is especially prominent in older individuals. Females have thicker bodies and duller overall coloration than males. This species is similar in appearance to the swamp spreadwing L. vigilax, but is larger in size. It is also similar to the amber-winged spreadwing L. eurinus, but lacks the amber-colored wings that characterize that species.
