About Lespedeza repens (L.) W.P.C.Barton

This plant has the accepted scientific name Lespedeza repens (L.) W.P.C.Barton. It is commonly known by three names: creeping lespedeza, creeping bush-clover, and trailing lespedeza. Lespedeza repens is native to the eastern and central United States, as well as northeastern Mexico. In Connecticut, it holds the conservation status of a species of special concern, and it is classified as rare within New York. It is a perennial herb that produces flowers from May through September each year. It naturally grows in open woods, clearings, and thickets. The stems of Lespedeza repens can reach up to 1 meter, which is approximately 3.3 feet, in total length. Its leaves become progressively smaller as they grow closer to the tips of the plant's stems.
