Its native range includes Tibet, central and southern China, Korea, central and southern Japan, and the Ryukyu Islands. It is a procumbent perennial, with stems that can grow up to 1 meter (3 feet) long. It most commonly grows on wastelands slopes and in grassy areas, at elevations below 1,000 meters (3,300 feet).
