Lespedeza hirta, commonly known as hairy lespedeza or hairy bush clover, is a perennial forb that is native to Ontario and the eastern United States. It reaches a maximum height of three feet. In summer, it produces small, inconspicuous white flowers. It grows best in average to dry soil. This plant is notable for supporting a large number of Lepidoptera species. It acts as a larval host for the bella moth, black-spotted prominent moth, cloudless sulpher, confused cloudy-wing, eastern tailed blue, gray hairstreak, southern cloudywing, and zarucco duskywing.
