Leptosiphon pygmaeus (Brand) J.M.Porter & L.A.Johnson is a small annual herb that reaches between 2 and 30 centimetres (0.79–11.81 inches) in height. It produces very small, threadlike leaves. Its inflorescence is an open cluster of tiny flowers, which range from light to deep pink, are 7–10 millimetres (0.28–0.39 inches) wide, and have bright yellow throats. This species blooms from March through July.
It is native to a large portion of California, growing in the western Sierra Nevada, Central Valley, California Coast Ranges, Transverse Ranges, and Peninsular Ranges. It is also native to the California Channel Islands in the United States, and to Guadalupe Island, which lies off the coast of Baja California, Mexico. It occurs at elevations below 3,000 metres (9,800 feet), in open or wooded areas of hills, mountains, and valleys. It can be found in a wide range of habitat types, including chaparral, oak woodland, grassland, and yellow pine forest.
