About Leptosiphon lemmonii (A.Gray) J.M.Porter & L.A.Johnson
Leptosiphon lemmonii is a small annual herb that has hairy, glandular textures. It grows a thin stem that reaches no taller than around 15 centimeters. Its leaves are split into needle-like linear lobes, each just a few millimeters long. The inflorescence is a cluster of a small number of small flowers, accompanied by bracts that have a shape very similar to the plant’s leaves. Each flower has lobes that are only 2 to 3 millimeters long. The flower lobes are usually white or cream, darkening to yellow and orange in the flower’s throat, and may sometimes also have maroon patches. This species blooms from April through June.
