About Leonotis ocymifolia (Burm.f.) Iwarsson

Leonotis ocymifolia, sometimes called the minaret flower, is a flowering plant that belongs to the mint family, Lamiaceae. It grows naturally in Eastern Africa, ranging from Sudan to South Africa. It is reported to be used in Ethiopian folk medicine. This species is reasonably drought-resistant and tolerant of wind. Compared to the similar species Leonotis leonurus, Leonotis ocymifolia has larger, more prominent tubular flowers.
