About Leiopus nebulosus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Leiopus nebulosus is a species of longhorn beetle that belongs to the subfamily Lamiinae. It was originally described by Carl Linnaeus in 1758, published in the landmark 10th edition of his Systema Naturae. This species includes two recognized subspecies. The nominate subspecies, L. nebulosus nebulosus, has been recorded from Europe and Russia, while the second subspecies, L. nebulosus caucasicus, is endemic to the mountain region of the Caucasus, a location that the subspecies epithet is derived from. Adult members of this species live on deciduous trees, including species from the tree genera Fagus, Quercus, Carpinus, Juglans, Acer, Ulmus, Betula, Salix, and Prunus. Individual beetles of this species measure between 5 and 10 millimetres in body length, and have a typical lifespan of approximately 1 to 2 years.
