Launaea nudicaulis, which has the scientific name Launaea nudicaulis (L.) Hook.fil., is commonly called the bold-leaf launaea. This plant species is native to a broad region that stretches from Spain in the west, through North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and western Asia, all the way to India in the east. Its native range also includes the Negev and Judean deserts. In India, it is known by the local common name bhatal. It can be found in the Hazara, Mansehra, Multan, Rawalpindi and Scinde districts of Punjab, as well as in Lahore.
