About Lateroligia ophiogramma (Esper, 1793)
This species of moth, Lateroligia ophiogramma (Esper, 1793), has a wingspan ranging from 32 to 35 mm. Individual forewings measure 13 to 16 mm in length. The forewing is pale ochreous, with olive grey suffusion along its inner margin and pale brownish suffusion in the terminal area. The inner and outer lines are brown, and are conversely lunulate-dentate. The upper half of the median area is occupied by a red-brown or black brown blotch that is bilobed below; the lower lobe is formed by the dark brown claviform stigma. The upper stigmata are somewhat paler, and have pale annuli. The blotch extends narrowly along the costa to the base, and its lower edge is often lined with white scales. The submarginal line is pale, and generally enlarged into an apical spot; it is preceded by a rufous brown shade, and followed by two grey brown patches on the two folds, with the patch on the submedian fold generally produced inwards to the outer line. The hindwing is pale grey, with a dark cellspot and dark veins.
