Lasthenia gracilis (DC.) Greene is a typically hairy herb that grows up to 400 millimetres (15.7 inches) tall, and can be either branched or unbranched. Its leaves measure 8โ70 millimetres (0.3โ2.8 inches) long, are shaped linear to oblanceolate, have no teeth, and are more or less hairy. The involucre of this species measures 5โ10 millimetres (0.2โ0.4 inches). Each flower head holds 6 to 13 ray flowers, which are 5โ10 millimetres (0.2โ0.4 inches) long, and numerous disk flowers.
