Lanthus vernalis, commonly called the southern pygmy clubtail, is a species of clubtail dragonfly that belongs to the dragonfly family Gomphidae. This species is native to eastern North America. It is one of the smallest known clubtail species, and individuals are typically found near small, clear, running trout streams. The larvae of this species can live for up to 5 years before they emerge as adults. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has assessed the conservation status of Lanthus vernalis as "LC", or least concern, meaning there is no immediate threat to the species' survival. The current population of Lanthus vernalis is stable.
