About Lampropteryx suffumata (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775
This species, Lampropteryx suffumata, has a wingspan of 25 to 32 millimeters. The base color of its forewings is brownish. Whitish lateral bands occur between the wing base and the midfield, and also between the central field and the marginal field. The dark midfield has serrated edges on both sides. The outer cross-line that borders the midfield has a distinct, protruding double wave. The marginal field is heavily darkened below the wing apex. The hindwings are pale grey and feature a strongly curved dark cross line. Mature caterpillars have a brown base color. Angled spots ranging from reddish-brown to black-brown appear on the dorsum, and the rear body segments are a lighter brown. In northern Europe, adult moths fly from March to June in a single generation each year. Larvae feed on Galium species, and can be found in May and June. The species overwinters in the pupal stage.
