About Lampetis fastuosa (Fabricius, 1775)
Lampetis fastuosa (Fabricius, 1775) reaches a body length of 20 to 25 millimetres, or 0.79 to 0.98 inches. Its basic body colour is bright metallic bluish green, and unlike leaves, its surface does not reflect near-infrared light. The head has a wrinkled, rough texture, the elytra are convex, and they bear rows of clearly defined punctations. This species is classified as a destructive insect. In India, it defoliates young shoots and gnaws the bark of Acacia nilotica and Acacia catechu, which belong to the family Mimosaceae. This species is distributed in southern India.
