Lambdina fiscellaria, commonly known as the mournful thorn or hemlock looper, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. This species is distributed across North America, ranging from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast, extending from Canada southward to the states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and California. The wingspan of adult moths is approximately 35 millimeters. Depending on location, adult moths are active in flight from August to early October. The larval stage of this moth feeds on hemlock, balsam fir, white spruce, oak, and other types of hardwood trees.
