About Lagurus ovatus L.

Lagurus ovatus is a clump-forming annual grass that reaches 50 cm (20 in) in height and spreads 30 cm (12 in) wide. It produces pale green grass-like foliage, along with many short, oval green flowerheads that change to a buff colour as they ripen, and blooms throughout all summer. The species is native to the Mediterranean region, and was introduced to Britain. It now grows successfully on sandy stretches in the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey, and is occasionally found in Ireland and South Wales. It has also become fully naturalized in County Wexford (Ireland), South Devon, and West Sussex. Lagurus ovatus is known or likely to be susceptible to barley mild mosaic bymovirus.
