About Laelia rubescens Lindl.

Laelia rubescens Lindl. is an orchid species. Its native range covers Mexico and Central America. Within this native region, it grows across the Central American countries Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, as well as most of central and southern Mexico. This species was intentionally introduced as an ornamental plant, and now grows wild in Florida and Cuba as an escape from cultivation. In its growing sites, Laelia rubescens is typically an epiphyte, and occasionally a lithophyte, in seasonally dry deciduous forests. It grows at elevations below 1700 meters.
