About Ladoga camilla glorifica (Fruhstorfer, 1909)
This is a description of Ladoga camilla glorifica (Fruhstorfer, 1909), originally published in Seitz. The species, which was previously referred to as Ladoga camilla L. (= sibilla L. auct. cet.), is figured as 57a and 57b. It is very similar to the preceding species, Limenitis sydyi Kindermann, 1853 (L. sydyi Led.) from the East Palearctic, the female of which is figured as 57a. For reference, L. sydyi is blackish brown, with white spots on the forewing and a strongly elbowed white band on the hindwing; at the apex of the forewing, especially in females, there are some reddish brown smears. The underside is mostly brownish; the hindwing is bluish at the base and abdominal margin, and has 2 rows of blackish spots in the distal area. The spots of the outer row are lunate and form borders for an additional row of whitish spots. Female L. sydyi have a less intense ground colour, and the whitish submarginal spots of the hindwing, as well as the light and reddish patches in the cell of the forewing, are more distinct. Compared to L. sydyi, Ladoga camilla glorifica differs as follows: the position of the spots on the forewing is different, the band on the hindwing is only slightly curved rather than elbowed, and on the underside all black spots in the marginal area of the hindwing are rounded, with no band of light spots outside of these spots as seen in L. sydyi.
