About Lachnaia italica Weise, 1881

Lachnaia italica Weise, 1881 is a species of short-horned leaf beetle that belongs to the family Chrysomelidae and the subfamily Clytrinae. This species occurs in Italy, France, and Slovenia. Adult beetles of this species range in length from 5–10 millimetres (0.20–0.39 in). Their head and pronotum are black, and their elytra are bright yellow-orange with six black spots. Adults primarily feed on species from the Rosaceae family (specifically Rubus) and the Fagaceae family (specifically Quercus). Larvae of Lachnaia italica live in the nests of the red wood ant, Formica rufa, and feed on vegetable refuse.
