About Lachenalia reflexa Thunb.
Lachenalia reflexa Thunb., commonly known as yellow soldier, is a species in the genus Lachenalia. It is endemic to lowland areas near Cape Town, South Africa. In its native South Africa, this species is rare and its population is declining. It is naturally restricted to lowland, winter-rainfall areas that range from Cape Town north to Malmesbury, and is entirely endemic to the Western Cape Province. Its natural habitat includes lowland coastal sand Fynbos, as well as patches of Renosterveld and Strandveld. Most of this habitat becomes inundated with water during the winter, while the species goes dormant during the dry summer months.
