About Lacanobia splendens Hübner, 1808

Lacanobia splendens, commonly known as the splendid brocade, is a moth species belonging to the superfamily Noctuoidea. This species was first formally described by Jacob Hübner in 1808. Its range spans temperate Europe and temperate Asia, extending all the way to the Pacific coast and Japan. The wingspan of adult Lacanobia splendens measures between 32 and 39 mm. Adults fly from May to July, and in warmer locations, a second generation of moths also flies in August. The larvae of this species feed on a variety of plant species, including Cicuta virosa, Menyanthes trifoliata, Solanum dulcamara, Convolvulus species, Arctium species, and Lactuca species including Lactuca sativa.
