About Koruthaialos sindu (C.Felder & R.Felder, 1860)

Koruthaialos sindu, commonly known as the bright red velvet bob, is a butterfly species that belongs to the family Hesperiidae. It was first described in 1860 by Cajetan Felder and Rudolf Felder, a father-and-son pair of entomologists. This species can be immediately distinguished by its forewing: the forewing is otherwise uniformly blackish brown, but has a diffuse transverse miniate spot, which is a red lead or vermilion-colored marking, and this spot is clearly visible on both sides of the wing. The noted exception is Idmon obliquans.
