Kokkocynips rileyi is a species of gall wasp that belongs to the family Cynipidae. This species forms two distinct structures: a gall body and a kapello. The kapello is a fatty, lipid-rich appendage that attracts ants to disperse the gall, a function similar to how elaiosomes work on myrmecochorous seeds. Kokkocynips rileyi was originally classified within the genus Dryocosmus, and was later reclassified into the genus Kokkocynips.
