Junonia stygia, commonly known as the brown pansy, dark pansy, or Aurivillius' brown pansy, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. This species is distributed across Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its natural habitat includes forests, encompassing disturbed forest areas and secondary forests. The larvae of Junonia stygia feed on species from the genera Paulowilhelmia sclerochiton, Asystasia, Barleria, Justicia, and Phaulopsis.
