About Juncus interior Wiegand

Juncus interior Wiegand is a species of rush. It has the common name interior rush, and within its native North American range it is also called "soft rush" – a name that generally refers to Juncus effusus outside of North America. This rush is native to the central inland regions of North America, where it grows in moist habitats including meadows and spring prairies, and can also grow in drier areas. It is a perennial herb with tufted root systems. It produces long, flat, narrow leaves that have rounded auricles. Its flowers grow along ascending branchlets; the flowers are green, with very narrow, pointed sepals and petals, and six stamens. It produces pale brown capsule fruits, which are eaten by waterfowl.
