Joannesia princeps Vell., commonly called the arara nut-tree or andá-açu, is a species of moderate-sized tree that belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family. This tree has a spreading canopy, coarse branches, and large alternate leaves that grow on long petioles. It produces monoecious flowers, and its fruit is a large drupe. This species is endemic to a specific range in Brazil, spanning eastern Minas Gerais, northern Espírito Santo, and southern Bahia, and it is currently threatened by habitat loss.
