About Jatropha cathartica Terán & Berland.
Jatropha cathartica (common name Berlandier's nettlespurge) is a perennial herb that grows from an enlarged, tuber-like woody root called a caudex. It is deciduous: it loses both its stems and leaves each year, and enters a dormant state over the winter. Berlandier's nettlespurge grows scattered among brush, most often on clay soil in hot, arid regions. This species has adapted to drought conditions and can survive for many days without rain. It can grow in both full sun and shade, but will rot if grown in a cold, damp environment.
