About Jansenia rugosiceps (Chaudoir, 1865)

Jansenia rugosiceps (Chaudoir, 1865) is a species of tiger beetle that is native to southern India. This species is most commonly found on rocks and boulders located on hills within scrub forest habitats. Adult individuals of Jansenia rugosiceps measure between 11 and 12 mm (0.43 to 0.47 inches) in total length. An examination of the chemical defensive compounds produced by the species' pygidial glands has found that, unlike many other tiger beetle species, Jansenia rugosiceps does not produce significant amounts of benzaldehyde.
