Jacobaea erucifolia (L.) G.Gaertn., B.Mey. & Scherb., commonly known as hoary ragwort, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the genus Jacobaea within the family Asteraceae. It is a perennial or rhizomatous geophyte that is native to temperate Eurasia, with its native range extending from Europe to Siberia, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia, Mongolia, China, and Japan. Three subspecies of Jacobaea erucifolia are currently accepted. Jacobaea erucifolia subsp. argunensis (Turcz.) Veldkamp is found in southeastern Siberia, China, Mongolia, Korea, and Japan. Jacobaea erucifolia subsp. erucifolia is distributed across Europe, Siberia, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia, and Mongolia. Jacobaea erucifolia subsp. tenuifolia (J.Presl & C.Presl) B.Nord. & Greuter occurs from France to Germany, Italy, the northern Balkans, and Ukraine.
